Candles at Dawn

Ellie and her mother travel to Turkey to attend the dawn ceremony at Anzac Cove, Gallipoli. During their stay at a boarding house run by a Turkish woman and her daughter, Zeynep, a friendship develops between the two girls, who are drawn together when they discover their grandfathers fought on opposite side in the same war. Suggested level: intermediate, junior secondary.
